 What is my favorite way to stay active?

There are many people that believe in a high amount of cardio AND strength training.  That is fine by me: to each his or her own.  However, I grew up playing soccer year a round and weight training was a necessity.  Thus, my physique was always stockier and muscular.  Now that I have lost a lot of weight and no longer play soccer I don't want such a muscular body.  I enjoy doing cardio to improve my health or occasionally when I want to sneak in a beverage or snack that is not typically on my diet.  Instead of working out being a grueling chore that I had to do; I work out to remain healthy, relieve stress, and spend time outdoors with my family.  My favorite way to stay active is a long hike with my husband (and/or parents) with our dogs.  I love to see Maddie and Mya, our black labs, running through the creek water.  They literally have smiles on their faces.  My husband and I walk in the woods taking in the scenery and the sounds of nature.  I know it may sound corny, but it is true!  We love it so much we usually end up hiking once or twice a week.  While we are driving home and exhausted! it is a good kind of tired.  Do you know what I mean?  There is something so gratifying being outdoors and spending time with the people and animals I love so much.  Haha, actually I have a few good stories for you from my childhood about my feelings towards hiking.  Trust me, I was NOT always a health nut!  Until tomorrow...

Breakfast - 

3/4 cup Bran Cereal

1/4 cup raisins

1/2 cup fat-free organic milk

Lunch - 

Kahiki Organic Chicken Egg Roll (80 cal, 3.5g fat)

Sweet and Sour Sauce (10 cal, 0g fat, 2g sugar) 


6 oz. Yoplait fat-free yogurt

sugar-free jello

Snack - 


Dinner - 

Jenny Craig Rising Crust Pizza (280 cal, 5g fat)

Salad (romaine, croutons)

2 tbsp. Starkey's Lite Balsamic Dressing

Snack -

100 calorie pack
