9/21/13 Katie's Healthy Eating Journal: Monday

by Katie (Jenny Craig 2009 Poster Girl) 21. September 2012 17:38

I had a comment today on one of my blogs asking if I eat other things besides processed foods and ever make homemade meals.  The processed foods that are considered bad for you are bleached, artificially flavored and sweetened, high in sugar and sodium foods.  My diet generally tries to avoid these things.  I try to eat whole grains, organic products, natural sweeteners from plants, and low sugar and sodium prepackaged foods.  I eat a ton of fresh veggies and fruits.

However, for breakfast and lunch I usually do eat something frozen because it is quick and easy during the work week.  Dinner is when I try to implement a lot of fresh veggies into my whole-grain pasta's and organic vegetarian meats.  We do a lot of homemade meals such as meat and veggies on the grill.  I don't do a lot of casseroles because the recipes usually involve a lot of ingredients and require time that I never seem to have.  If you are looking for more "clean" foods truthfully what I do may not be right for you - Paula's diet journal may be just what you're looking for.  I try my best to follow what Jenny Craig consultants and nutritionists suggest so I am more health conscious, fit, and lower in weight but I always have more to learn.  If any of you have more to suggest on the topic I would certainly love to read it!

On another note, a friend of mine from school is going to try being devoted to the site and diet.  She would like to lose 20 pounds and I'm going to encourage and motivate her through my blogs.  She is 5'3" and NOWHERE near overweight but on a small stature any amount of weight gained can feel like a lot.  She claims she is going to be strict with the diet and weigh herself weekly - we will see how she does!  If any of you are looking for a grocery list of what to buy look under food labels and/or grocery store in the search window on the Health Blog page.  I have many previous entries that will inform you of where to go/what to buy in the store.  If any of you have questions feel free to ask them on here - as I'm sure many others may be thinking exactly the same thing!
