10/13/13 Katie's Healthy Eating Journal: Tuesday

by Katie (Jenny Craig 2009 Poster Girl) 13. October 2012 19:18

Today my friend who has been trying the diet has lost a total of six pounds.  How exciting is that?!  This really could be you.  It just takes a little hard work and motivation.  Ok, a lot of hard work...but hey, it is evident that results are found.

Have you bought Valerie Bertinelli's book Finding It yet?  I am only into the fourth page or so but I already love it.  Jenny Craig suggested I buy it (other than boosting up her sales!) because she is going through a similar experience like me: maintenance.  Valerie goes onto describe how she thought maintenance was going to be much easier than losing the weight to achieve a goal.  She discussed how she thought light exercise and eating healthy with a few treats here and there would be the definition of maintenance: a more relaxed take on the JC weight loss program.  Boy, was she (and I) wrong!  It is almost more difficult to lose the weight and keep it off.  The pressure to make sure it stays off is intense.  As much as we don't like to admit it, it's embarrassing to have people discuss that we are fat yet again.  I don't want to have worked this hard for nothing.  It is scary and the pressure to maintain is undeniable.  Not to mention, to keep it off for my own sanity and health purposes.  The book is really something I can identify with and while I haven't actually read her first book, Losing It, I would bet that many of you who are currently trying to lose weight could identify with this copy.  Weight is an incessant, ongoing, gruelsome battle that I wish I never had to deal with.  I can say with 100% conviction I'm jealous of those that have fabulous metabolisms that never have to worry about weight.  They can eat/drink whatever they want without a second thought.  If I'm craving a hot chocolate because I'm outside doing some kind of hayride or fall activity I constantly have to tell myself, nope, that's too much sugar.  I don't want to ruin my maintenance program over a high-sugared hot chocolate drink.  Sometimes it is just exhausting and I get sick of being so cautious.  I feel like a child when I say, "IT'S NOT FAIR THAT I CONSTANTLY HAVE TO WATCH MY WEIGHT!"; but darn it, I better at least have a fairly healthy body on the inside!!!!  Tongue out
