5/27/14 Katie's Healthy Eating Journal: Thursday

by Katie (Jenny Craig 2009 Poster Girl) 28. May 2013 10:31

Today was the last day of school.  One of my favorite moments is waving good-bye to all the students on their buses as they leave on their last day (and no, not just because I am excited for summer!).  Something about it is so bittersweet; it's final closure to a long year of hard work.  All of these feelings occur of how proud you are of your students and you for making it through the year together through both positive and negative moments.  This year was different than all the rest for me.  I felt feelings of pride and closure but there were no tears in my eyes this year (which is also strange because pregnancy hormones make me cry at the drop of a hat).  I think I was overwhelmed with relief that I had survived.  For me personally, it was just such a taxing year.  It's hard to believe but since NOVEMEBER I have been in and out of pain due to the endometriosis, the shots that encouraged both the pregnancy and endometriosis, the horrible morning sickness that still continues, some major events that impacted some of the teachers I loved this year, and a year full of worry about my parents and how crippled they've become.  I am a perfectionist and it killed me to know that my teaching was not able to be at it's best.  I am, without hesitation, so gald that this school year is over.  I'm hoping this summer will be less stress and a time to get excited about the upcoming birth of our baby.
