6/7/14 Katie's Healthy Eating Journal: Monday

I thought today it would be good to find out why it's important to stay relaxed while you're pregnant. Well, first let me set up the scenario for you: yesterday I was doing my 30 minute walk on our driveway (remember our driveway is about a mile long). It was a beautiful day and not too hot, I might add. I had my IPOD going and the dogs were running along with me. It occurred to me that this was one of the first days in a long time where I actually felt really good. I was so happy and relaxed. Now I was on high alert because the past two days there have been three baby raccoons that suddenly appeared on our driveway. Since Saturday they have been hanging out in the shade, in the wide open, during the day. My one black lab has some hound in her I think which makes chasing after animals irresistable to her. She's actually a well trained dog but there is one thing that puts her "in a zone" and causes her to ignore my commands: animals (particularly deer, coyotes, other dogs, raccoons, and geese). We have had several occasions up at the farm where she has bolted through the woods and we cannot find her for a while. These instances have been scary because we worry she is getting into a fight with a dangerous wild animal, lost and never coming home, or worse, God forbid, dead. To be continued... MONDAY Breakfast - Jenny Craig Stuffed Sandwich 3/4 cup cantaloupe 1 cup fat-free organic milk Lunch - Gardenburger on whole wheat bun with pickles, lettuce, and tomato Fat-free yogurt Snack - 3/4 cup strawberries Dinner - Small sweet potato 2 oz. turkey burger on grill Broccoli with 1 tbsp. margarine Snack - 100 calorie pack
