6/9/14 Katie's Healthy Eating Journal: Wednesday

Continuation of Monday/Tuesday's blogs... Now that you have a little background on my dogs I can finish my "walk" on the driveway from Monday. I had just walked up and down the driveway twice feeling happy and relaxed. I was about twenty steps from my gate as I finished my walk to let the dogs back in the yard. Mentally I had checked out, not being on high alert anymore with Mya "the huntress." I thought the walk was over and we were going back inside the house. I don't know why I let her continue to surprise me! I happen to glance up while I'm belting out the words to Lady Gaga and I see Mya booking it just a few feet actually to a tree that is nearby. This is where part of my blog may be kind of disgusting and you may want to stop reading: Typically if Mya were chasing an animal she would be long gone but there she was, continuing to stay just a few feet from me, appearing to be wagging her tail and pouncing. I walk over for a better look and what does she have in her mouth? Yep, a baby raccoon. And when I say baby don't think baby like the size of a bunny rabbit or bird. You need to think larger than a squirrel. It was a huge fuzz ball of brown and black in her mouth. You maybe wondering why I would consider this high stress...just because I live on a farm does not mean I'll ever be used to it. Hearing a helpless baby raccoon scream and cry while its brother or sister is hanging onto dear life in a bush is horrific. To be continued...
