6/14/14 Katie's Healthy Eating Journal: Thursday

Continuation of Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday's blog. I'm writing about an event from Monday that was a little graphic. If you'd rather skip today's blog I understand why. Yesterday I left off with Mya, my black lab, shaking a baby raccoon in her mouth. The whole scene was horrifying and maybe if you've seen nature in this way your whole life you're used to it. Well, I unfortunately cry when I've even hit an animal in the road. I'm just not able to handle death and nature very well - never was. Not to mention, going through my head, was: raccoons are notorious for rabies...what if my dog gets rabies?! They are also notorious little fighters - scavengers. I was in a panic for both the baby and for my dog. Here I am screaming at the top of my lungs, "Mya, MYA, MYA." I half turn to let Maddie into the yard who is just staring probably both in playfulness at Mya and alarmed mode because her Mom is screaming like a raving lunatic. But, then I hear a squeal from over by the tree and my attention gets distracted, I completely forget about Maddie because she is so good about listening to me. Thoughts are racing through my head of how I can get Mya out of the zone and to drop that raccoon. Before I even have time to come to an answer, Mya has dropped the baby and now my precious, "girly dog" Maddie has picked up the raccoon and is shaking it in her mouth! Now I'm really sickened...I let those dogs give me kisses all the time. To further my raving lunatic status I am now screaming at Maddie who immediately drops the raccoon. It's almost as if she just wanted some attention too. The baby continues to squeal and I cannot get Mya's attention. So I do the only thing I can think of: I throw a huge rock at Mya and the raccoon. Thankfully she drops it and "comes to." I am able to herd the two dogs back into the yard...somehow...I'm not really sure how. More on this tomorrow... THURSDAY Breakfast - 3/4 cup bran flakes 1 cup fat-free organic milk Lunch - 2 tbsp. hummus on whole wheat pita Fat-free yogurt Snack - Apple Dinner - 100 calorie English Muffin with light layer of pizza sauce and 1/4 cup fat-free cheese sprinkled on top Cauliflower with 1 tbsp. margarine Snack - 100 calorie pack
